Jan Armgardt ‘Volare’ Two Seater Sofa for Leolux, The Netherlands, 1990s. This wire frame sofa is one of the most interesting Leolux pieces, designed by renowned designer Jan Armgardt in 1998. Very comfortable and supporting due to the thick and rich upholstery cushions, but yet very simple in design – just a wire frame and some cushions. One of the best sitting sofas around. Great mid-century modernist appearance – very distinct with the wire base and the shape of the frame. Almost looks like a car back seat, with the head support cushions – strangely resembles the works by Ron Arad, but also looks a bit like the great modernist wire frame designs by – for example – Bertoia. A true modernist piece and as far as sofas go, a very distinct and original design. Comes in great vintage condition.
