Northern Swedish Country Plate Shelf, 1800s

Antique Swedish plate shelf. The shelf is a genuine Swedish country house furniture and was for storing and displaying the household plates. It’s supposed to either be hung on the wall or stand on the kitchen counter. Original untouched paint. There are traces and marks of use. There are hand wrought loops on the short end where it was hung up. Made in pine, the shelf is unusually shallow, please refer to the measurements. One short end has never been painted and there is a smaller loss of material at the top by the wall, see picture. from northern Sweden around 1840. This was an unusual furniture and an indicator of wealth where the riches of the household were displayed, meaning the nice housewares. The pediment measures 110 by 22 cm and the frame 102 by 17 cm and 118.5 cm tall. The shelf is 12.5 cm deep.
