The fine art lithograph print is printed in France in 1946 by Les Editions Du Chene Paris, as part of a French portfolio of limited edition Matisse lithograph prints titled ” Matisse Peintures 1939 – 1946 “. The vintage lithograph print features an artwork image originally created by Matisse in 1942 titled ” La Danseuse a La Robe Bleue ” ( The Dancer in the Blue Dress ).

Henri Matisse ( 1869 – 1954 ) the French born artist is known for both his sense of color and fluid aesthetic. Matisse is commonly regarded, along with Picasso as one of the most important artists who helped to define and influence radical Contemporary Art of The Twentieth Century. His expressive language of color and drawing won him recognition as a leading figure in world Modern Art. The lithograph print plate image measures 7 3/4″ W X 11″ H, on a page that is 11″ W X 14 7/8″ H. The print is attached to the page with a method called ” tipping ” where it is attached by hand on the top edge. Behind the print plate image on the page is the title, date, and size of the original artwork.
