Vintage Design
When design becomes science fiction. This dark brown sideboard was designed by Ghent based designer Frank De Clercq in 1967. Its minimalist shape and style reminds me the science fiction movie settings of the late 60s and 70s. Directors such as Stanley Kubrick, Joseph Kosinski and Ridley Scott dreamed up places and spaces beyond our own imagination and defined visions of the future we can never escape. The minimalist filmsettings of this era were Triggered by the first stages of space exploration in the 1960s and 1970s. the Space Age design aesthetic was born in this era of vast technological and economic progress.
This sideboard would have been a perfect fit for this type of setting. Decorated with an artwork of Gilbert Swimberghe, it emphasizes the futuristic feel. The sideboard is made out of solid wood and with a chocolate brown lacquered finish. Inside there is much storage space created with shelves and two large drawers. The sideboard stands in a very good condition, all authentic keys are available and are made with an eye for detail.
