PAUL SORMANI (1817-1877). A magnificent secretary made of royal wood veneer, on curved legs, richly decorated with a large painted panel on the facade and hinged lid of the secretary depicting ancient lovers running to a fountain. Decorated with an ensemble of gilded frames with elements of plant motifs and corner mascarons – flower shoots with sprouted female heads. The drawer is decorated in waves with bronze foliage and touching shoots of handles. The curves of the legs and their bases are also emphasized by the gilded bronze ensemble. from the top, the secretaire ends with a vast platform behind a gilded balustrade. The interior space of the secretary is busily divided by a shelf into two parts, the lower of which is equipped with four small mahogany drawers, the upper of which are turnkey. The writing table is upholstered in green velvet. Lock plate signed Paul Sormani 10 r. Charlotte Paris. Second half of the 19th century. Dimensions: Height: 137 cm. Width: 87 cm. Depth: 39 cm.
