A husband-wife team of Peter and Truaudl, master printers, printed this landscape of western Canada in the 70s’. Acclaimed and awarded for the mastery of the fading imagery. Produced in Western Canada. The beautiful and Majestic panoramic scene of Lake Sakinaw is titled on the left and signed on the right edge. The colors are soft fading blues of the foggy lake and moving through the mountain ranges all around the lake. The framed size is 12.25″ by 10.25″ and matted under glass. The image is 8″ by 6.25″. A newspaper clipping about the couple is attached to the rear.

“Digging For Bait” Aquatint by Thomas Mclean, a dry humorous shot at the tony middle-class’s mishapps in nature. Surprised to encounter a nest of hornets as they dig by treestump. Humorous and sweet. The original edition is hand-colored in the early 1800s, in England. This image is numbered No. 4 to the upper right edge of the border. Framed under glass in original frame circa 1900. The size is 12.5″ by 10.75″ tall. The image is 9.5″ by 11.5″

Henri Matisse ( 1869 – 1954 ) the French born artist is known for both his sense of color and fluid aesthetic. Matisse is commonly regarded, along with Picasso as one of the most important artists who helped to define and influence radical Contemporary Art of The Twentieth Century. His expressive language of color and drawing won him recognition as a leading figure in world Modern Art. This Paul Rebeyrolle rare vintage 1967 limited edition Maeght Editeur Abstract French lithograph print is a very special and unique piece to add to your collection.

The lithograph print is published by Maeght Editeur, printed in France in 1867 in an unnumbered limited edition. It is a foul-out double page from the French fine art portfolio publication Derriere Le Mirior, Issue Number 163, March 1967, dedicated to the artworks of Paul Rebeyrolle.

Paul Rebeyrolle ( 1926 – 2005 ) was a French born Modernist artist who largely dedicated his career to highlighting philosophical and political issues in expressive, highly charged works. The powerful generous art works are a call to freedom, a revolt against injustice, intolerance, a true testimony to an instinctive sensory creativity of the reality of the world as he saw and his own inner world. He received high accolades from many other well known artists of his time. There is a museum dedicated to his artworks ” Espace Paul Rebeyrolle ” in Eymoutiers near his birthplace in France.

Derriere Le Miroir is a French fine art publication created in 1946 published until 1982. The founder, editor and publisher, art dealer Aime Maeght opened his infamous art gallery in 1945 in Paris France coinciding with the end of World War II and the return of many exiled artists back to France. Derriere Le Miroir was created in 1946 to showcase original articles an dmainly color lithograph prints by the gallery’s famous artists of the time. The publication included only artists exhibited by The Maeght Gallery including Francis Bacon, Georges Braque, Alexander Calder, Marc Chagall, Wassily Kandisnky, Ellsworth Kelly, Richard Lindner, Henri Matisse, Paul Rebeyrolle, and Saul Steinberg among many others.

The rare out of print French lithograph print measures 22″ W X 15″ H. There is a center vertical fold as issued by the publisher. There is unrelated French language text on the reverse back side of the page.

The Fifty-Three Stations of the Tokaido Road is a series of ukiyo-e woodcut prints created by Utagawa Hiroshige after his first travel along the route in 1832. The Tokaido Road, linking the Shogun’s capital, Edo, to the imperial one, Kyoto, was the main travel and transport artery of old Japan

Okitsu-juku was the seventeenth of the fifty-three stations of the Tokaido Road. It is located in what is now part of the Shizuoka Prefecture. This classic ukiyo-e woodblock print depicts two sumo wrestlers being carried across the Okitsu River, one on a packhorse and the other in a kago.

This print was purchased from the estate of an art collector and its provenance is unknown. Please refer to all photos and note the texture of the handmade paper, along with the distinctive mat profile and age of the frame.
