“Oase” lounge chair designed by Wim Rietveld for Ahrend de Cirkel, the Netherlands 1958. Son of the architect and De Stijl member, Gerrit Rietveld, Wim Rietveld (1924-1985) is a major figure of industrial dutch design. This “Oase” chair won the Signe d’Or-prize for furniture design at the Salon in 1959 and is one of the iconic pieces of Dutch modern design. The chair has been restored with new upholstery in a dark grey Hallingdal wool by Kvadrat and also the foam inside has been renewed. The grey metal frame remains in original condition and is not repainted. It has its original patina and shows some signs of age and use. The bakelite armrests are in good condition and have no chips or damages.
