The latter fed her artistic formation and was where she received her BA in Mass Communications from the American University in Cairo in 1992, followed by a painting course at the School of Visual Arts.

Alkandari has participated in a number of exhibitions with highlights that include the Institute du Monde Arabe in Paris (2006), Dubai’s The Third Line and the Arab Museum of Modern Art (2012). Alkandari’s body of work ranges from large-scale acrylic portraits to smaller, more intimate pen and ink drawings.
